about
As I submit the final demo for streaming, the book of Commonplace closes. Two years ago I started this band as recordings in my parents basement, and many of these demos are recorded in that basement. I didn’t think I could’ve the creative driving force of a band, but I did my best and brought this idea to life.
Since that August two years ago, so much in my life has changed including my desire to continue on with Commonplace. As I grew, I grew away from the music and the content which that music holds.
I can not thank everyone involved enough for their help. Antuan, Matt, Desi, and Jeff all took part in helping bring these songs to life for live shows and I am forever grateful. Enzo and Collin for our time spent together in Odd Summer that helped me grow as a musician. Thank you to everyone who has come to a show, streamed a song, and just did anything to help me or the band on this journey.
lyrics
Tell me do you feel
The burning of the lights
Shining on your face
Projecting from the sky
As the music rings
And your eardrums buzz
Slowly flickering
Back to their demise
Sometimes I still think
About that very first time
You laid next to me
And everything felt right
But these things have changed
We went our separate ways
I just want you to know
I’m happy where I am tonight
I first saw your face
Standing in the light
Then in came the rain
Clouding all my sight
Oh how I wish
You’d turn on that switch
I just wanna see
Fluorescent lighting again
Maybe these things
Happen for the best
Sometimes we just think
We’ll never be happy again
But these things change
We went our separate ways
I just want you to know
I’m happy where I am tonight
